As part of HGTV’s 100 Day Hotel Challenge, we partnered with Mika Kleinschmidt and a talented group of HGTV designers to breathe new life into The William & Garland—a charming Southern inn nestled in Salter Path, North Carolina. With a 100-day timeline and a $225,000 budget, our challenge was to elevate the property while honoring its roots and timeless character.
In collaboration with Galey Alix, Jonathan Knight, Kristina Crestin, Lauren Makk, Scott McGillivray, Grace Mitchell, Kim Myles, and Kim Wolfe, we led the interior design direction—infusing each space with warmth, texture, and a refined sense of comfort. While each designer contributed their own style, we ensured the overall vision stayed cohesive, thoughtful, and true to the inn’s Southern soul.
Soft, muted palettes, antique-inspired furnishings, and collected details defined the look—creating an atmosphere that feels more like a cozy heritage home than a hotel. From the relaxed guest rooms to the intimate common areas, every space was carefully crafted to offer charm, story, and a sense of place.
The William & Garland now stands as a love letter to quiet luxury and hospitality—rooted in thoughtful design and brought to life through collaboration and creativity.
