Poeta is a thoughtfully executed renovation of a former restaurant located on the ground floor of a 15-room boutique hotel in East Austin’s historic 11th Street district. We preserved the building’s modern exterior while reimagining the interior to evoke a timeless Golden Age charm. The design juxtaposes contrasting elements that tell a story of both history and modernity—such as a salvaged 1900s Chicago brownstone wood door framed by a sleek concrete entryway, and a vintage piano set against a textured board-formed wall. The antique bar back, carefully retrofitted for the space, complements the minimalist bar, while Indian rosewood doors and fringed velvet pendants add a rich, tactile layer to the overall atmosphere.
