Inspired by the town of Taxco, Mexico, Solecita is a place where people gather - as family, friends, neighbors, or strangers. It is a revolving door of locals. Along with the design of the interiors, our team was tasked with coming up with a name & brand direction for this special restaurant.
Solecita - meaning ‘little sun’ in Spanish - perfectly captured the essence of the brand we were wanting to bring into the world. It represented a fresh start for our clients and a welcoming, cheerful atmosphere for people to enjoy some Texas sunshine. The name paints a picture of the sun-glazed, cobblestone streets of small-town Mexico, where the guitar strings echo louder, the colors are richer and the food is more authentic. That first impression and memory of experiencing another culture is captured in our holistic approach to design. Solecita celebrates the artistry of the people.
Bringing Solecita to life involved sourcing items with character. Woven pendant shades, umbrella, planters, and kilim pillow covers were sourced locally from Round Top, breeze blocks came from our friends at Clay Imports in Mexico, and a custom, refurbished Piaggio Apé came all the way from Italy. To bring the whole enchilada together, our talented friend, Lucas Aoki, created a vibrant mural that captured the essence of the brand and beautifully complemented the courtyard design.
