KLD reimagined an Austin icon in the form of A Little Shady, a new restaurant concept inspired by the beloved Shady Grove on Barton Springs Road. The design carries the spirit of the original into a new generation, layering familiar details, like flagstone, the unmissable panther, the original Airstream, hand-painted signage, and mural-covered fencing, with a fresh take on its nostalgic Southwest character. Vintage-inspired materials, collected details, and expansive indoor-outdoor gathering spaces recall the laid-back atmosphere that made Shady Grove a longtime Austin institution. More than a recreation, A Little Shady was designed as a time capsule: a place that feels familiar from the moment you walk in, transporting guests back to an era of old Austin while giving the concept a new home and identity in Kyle.
