The “Selah" Floating Art Center, located just outside a Rapha House facility in Battambang, Cambodia, was designed as a sanctuary for healing through creative expression. This traditional Cambodian houseboat serves as a tranquil space where young survivors of trafficking and sexual exploitation can engage in art therapy.

The project was conceived after Kim traveled to Cambodia in 2014 with Pam Cope and Nan Deal, witnessing firsthand the challenges faced by young girls in the region. Moved by what she saw, the team set out to create a space that fosters hope, healing, and the power of creativity.

Construction was completed in 2016, and Kim worked closely with Art Feeds (Meg Bourne and Brooke LeMasters) and carpenter Jake Scott to ensure that the design was both functional and culturally resonant. Every element of the interior was thoughtfully designed to support art-based programming, allowing the girls to explore self-expression, build confidence, and envision a brighter future.

The “Selah” Floating Art Center stands as a testament to resilience and the transformative power of creativity, reflecting our commitment to designing spaces that heal, empower, and inspire.
